  • 5 Incredible Ways to be Beautiful & Still Have a Life

    Posted by Holster Brands

Let’s face it.  Appearance in this life matters.  When we look good, we feel more confident and ready to take on the day.  And like it or not, looking good takes effort and time.  I, for one, do not like that fact at all.  Time is a precious commodity because there is always more I want to do.  And if you’re like me, daily things like “brush your hair”, though admittedly are important, are not on your bucket list.  Because you have vital things to contribute to this world, amazing things to see, and meaningful people to meet, we have come up with five smart tips that will shave off time in your morning routine and still help you be your most beautiful self.  Smart + beautiful.  They belong together.  They belong on you.

    1.  Shampoo Less (Saves up to 30 minutes)

Contrary to what your mother told you when you were five, hair does not need to be washed everyday.  In fact, most stylists suggest every other day or every two day washing patterns.

The same guy who often styles Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o and Angelina Jolie, Ted Gibson says, "I tell all of my Gibson girls that they should NEVER wash their hair everyday! Day old hair holds a style so much better than freshly shampooed hair. Plus, you can actually make your scalp more oily by over-shampooing as your glands will fight to replace the oil you just washed out of your hair.”  (More of Ted Gibson's interview on coveteur.com)

No wash days can shave 5-10 minutes off your shower time and save 15-20 minutes because there’s no need to blow dry your hair.  Use a few of those extra minutes to try a cute, trendy hairstyle or make a quick once around with a curling iron.

If the thought of oily hair haunts your nightmares, try a spray in hair powder to absorb oil from roots. (This one comes tinted in different hair colors, Bumble and Bumble Hair Powder). And remember to only use conditioner from the neck down.  This will reduce oil near the scalp.

    2.  Keep Favorite Makeup Together (Saves up to 10 minutes)

We all have our go-to’s when it comes to makeup.  Certain tubes of lipstick get wiped absolutely clean, while others remain practically untouched.  Those products that we use the most deserve special real estate and should be kept together.  Choose a box or container where you can keep them together and accessible.  By keeping them all at your fingertips, you can breeze through your makeup routine in no time.  No more rummaging through cupboards and drawers to find the specific product you need.

Additionally, applying your makeup can be quick by focusing on items that make the biggest impact.  Here’s the top five: moisturizer, concealer, mascara, blush, and lip gloss.  We LOVE the quick makeup routine by Amy Clarke highlighted on OnceWed.com: The 5 Minute Face.  It’s simple, but gorgeous.

    3.  Photograph Best Outfits - (Saves 10-15 minutes)

This idea can help you avoid the clothes mountain.  The clothes mountain suddenly appears after you’ve been trying to get dressed for the day and somehow everything you’ve tried on ends up on the floor.  Sometimes what you think will look good in your brain, does not work in reality.  So, once you do find that rock star outfit, take a quick photo of yourself in it.  It may take a few weeks to catalog your best looks, but once you do, just scroll through your phone and pick the look you’re in the mood for.  It’s a great excuse for a selfie and you’ll save time by not dealing with the dreaded clothes mountain.

If you want extra credit in the getting dressed quickly department, group each item of your favorite outfits together after you’ve laundered them.  Hang the pants with the shirt they go with and maybe even that perfect accessory.  That way in the morning, all you have to do is grab the group of clothes and you’re set.

    4.  Feed Your Skin - (Saves 10 minutes)

There are complicated skin regimens out there that take a lot of steps and a lot more time.  Sometimes the simplest ideas can be the most effective.  Skip the creams and the skin care products and replace them with a skin healthy diet.  You literally ARE what you eat when it comes to your skin.  New York Times best-selling author of Gorgeous for Good, Sophie Uliano says that 90% of skin issues can be solved by diet.  Whaaat?  Yep, you heard me 90%.   Here are the top five foods she suggests for healthier skin from the inside out:

    1. Avocados
    2. Raw Nuts
    3. Leafy Greens
    4. Artichokes
    5. Blueberries

Sophie advises to load your diet up with “raw nuts and seeds (all those good Omega 3 fatty acids are great for your skin), and loads of fruits and veggies that span the colors of the rainbow.”  She suggests that a diet rich with these foods can “clear up anything related to inflammation, such as redness, irritation, sensitivity and Rosacea...Remember that by increasing your fruit and veggie consumption, you are also increasing your fiber and water consumption, this will move things through your system quickly, and help to detoxify your entire system on a daily basis, which leads to clearer and more beautiful skin.”  (More of Sophie's interview on yahoo.com)

    5. Say Cheese

One of the best beauty tricks takes only two seconds and can be done anytime, anywhere.  By simply smiling, women are considered by others to be more beautiful.   A research study conducted by Orbit Complete discovered that 69% of people find a woman that is smiling more attractive then when that same woman is wearing makeup.  So be happy, it looks good on you.

These are ways we’ve thought of to save time and send you on your gorgeous way to do all those wonderful things you do everyday.  What are your thoughts?  How long do you usually spend getting ready in the morning?  What time saving beauty secrets and tips do you have?
